Your consultation
Every WILLIAM ÉDOUARD engagement ring and wedding band is designed and handmade in our Melbourne studio. In your consultation you'll sit down with William, the maker himself, and work through every detail together: the stone, the setting, the metal, and the band's width and profile, right down to the claws.
Some people arrive with photos of exactly what they want, and others have no idea where to start. Either is perfect, and we'll guide you from there.

What to expect
Book a time
Choose a time that suits and tell us a little about what you have in mind. It takes less than a minute.
Your consultation
We'll look at pieces in the studio, talk through diamonds and gemstones, and shape a design around you.
Your design and quote
We'll send through a summary with your quote, along with a 3D rendering of your ring where needed.
Handmade for you
Once you're happy with the design, your ring is handmade in our Melbourne studio, usually within two to four weeks.

The consultation
Is the consultation free?
Yes. Consultations are free, and there's no obligation to proceed.
How long is the consultation?
Consultations run for around 45 minutes, which allows plenty of time to view pieces, discuss stones and settle on a direction for your design.
Can I book a virtual consultation?
Yes. Just choose virtual when you book and we'll be in touch with the details.
What should I bring?
You don't need to bring anything at all. If you have photos or links to rings you love, they're always helpful, along with a rough idea of your budget, and if you know the ring size, bring that too. Don't worry if it's a surprise.
Pricing
How much does an engagement ring cost?
As a guide, most of our engagement rings fall between $5,000 and $15,000. The final price depends on the stone and its specifications (cut, colour, clarity and carat weight), along with the metal and the setting. We'll give you an exact quote during your consultation.
Can you work within my budget?
Yes. Tell us your budget when you book and we'll show you options that make the most of it, whether that means a different stone, a different metal or a lab-grown diamond.
Design and stones
Natural or lab-grown diamonds?
We work with both, as well as precious gemstones like sapphires, rubies and emeralds. We'll walk you through the differences in price and appearance so you can choose what's right for you, and you can read more in our lab-grown diamond guide.
Can I customise one of your designs?
Absolutely. Every detail can be adjusted: the stone, the band's width, thickness and profile, the number and style of claws, the setting and the metal.
Will I see the design before it's made?
Yes. Where it's needed, we'll send you a 3D rendering of your ring with your quote, so you know exactly what you're getting.
Can I make changes after seeing the design?
Of course. We're happy to refine the design until you're completely happy with it.
Timing
How long does it take?
Most engagement rings are ready within two to four weeks of approving the design, and some can be ready sooner depending on the design. Simple wedding bands are often quicker. If you have a proposal or wedding date in mind, let us know when you book and we'll plan around it.

Let us know your date when you book and we'll do everything we can to have the ring ready in time.
Planning the proposal
I'm not sure what they'd like. What should I do?
That's very common, and it's exactly what the consultation is for. We can help you narrow it down from small clues, then work with you to put together the best possible design for them.
What if I don't know their ring size?
If you can borrow a ring they already wear, bring it along. Otherwise, there are a few discreet ways we can arrive at a confident estimate, and if the fit isn't quite right after the proposal, resizing is complimentary.
Collection and aftercare
How do I receive my ring?
That's entirely up to you. You're welcome to collect it from our Melbourne studio, or we can send it via insured express post.
Should I insure my ring?
That's ultimately up to you, and we can arrange insurance for you if you wish.
Do you make wedding bands too?
Yes. Most couples come back to us for matching wedding bands, and we can design them to sit perfectly against the engagement ring.
